Let them get married!!!!
Let's be honest, not every marriage in this country is done under a religious umbrella of any sort, and the ones that are have such varying beliefs, the whole issue is an issue only because we are allowing religious viewpoints to take precedence. Other than the fact that it is between a man and a woman and therefore entitled to the legal benefits and rights of this country, the churches have little similarities. Heck, there is a church of Elvis where anyone sober enough to stand can get hitched!
We need to separate the issue from churches. It is, in truth, a legal issue. There are rights that a married couple have that single individuals do not. As long as there are these rights for committed couples, and there are individuals seeking this level of commitment to their partners, we need to make these rights available to them. If religiously it is against your, and your churches beliefs to marry anyone other than a man to a woman, then don't perform the ceremony in your church.

Well, I think that if you're against gay marriage, then you certainly shouldn't get one. :)
I'm actually pretty much on the same page as you. Gays should be afforded the same rights as straight people, from a legal standpoint. The church shouldn't be telling the state how to conduct its legal affairs, and the state shouldn't require clergy to perform gay marriage ceremonies if it goes against their religious convictions.
And if the church is so concerned about the sanctity of marriage, then they need to be pushing for constitutional amendments making adultery and divorce illegal as well. For me, it's the height of hypocrisy for the church to have a divorce rate on par with the rest of the world, and then to say that letting gay people get married is going to destroy families.
I don't know how I feel about homosexuality in general, and let me tell you--just being on the fence is a huge step for me. But I absolutely think the church at large has handled this poorly, and it's none of their business.
